Trout fishing season is coming to its end on Saturday. I it was a good season. It definitely was better then the last season when I started trout fishing. I think I pretty quickly learned to read the water and predict where fish could be hiding. So now, when I go fishing, I don’t just cast everywhere and hope that something will be nearby and willing to take the lure. No, I cast on particular spots and I am1 prepared on possible strikes. These new experiences aren’t in vain, I catch more and loose less fish.
And here is the winner of this year’s season. 40cm rainbow trout. As for me, caught in difficult conditions. The water was very low and very clear. First I tried to outsmart some chubs, but I failed. They are very hard to catch, especially in conditions like this. Then I changed the spot, I moved some 20-50 meters upstream and overcame the river. I knew there are trouts in this spot, because I caught one on last fishing. First 2 or 3 casts only small trouts followed the lure. But then this big one came from somewhere and ate the Mepps like it haven’t eaten for days.
Unfortunately it swallowed the lure so deep I wasn’t able to unhook it without harm. So it ended on the plate. As you can see I made fillets. They came out very good considering I tried to fillet a fish for the first time. Then, a little bit of pepper, salt, garlic, flour and hop in to the hot oil for a few minutes. Cooked potatoes with garlic and parsley for side dish. Yummy.
