Weekend fishing

Last weekend was awesome

Friday, Saturday and Sunday was like; eat, sleep and fish. And I tell you, it gets exhausting after a while, lol. Being a whole day on a hot burning midday sun with rod in hand, or just looking at the rod tip and waiting for the characteristic rod tip shake that indicates fish bite takes its toll.

I’ve tried spinning, I’ve tried float fishing, I’ve tried ground fishing for some Sparidae, and I’ve tried eging. And Nothing, ok, almost nothing.
In these three days I mad two catches. One was common two-banded sea bream1 on the ground system. It took the bait right on clock when you can expect them to bite. In the evening, when sun sets down and twilight gets thicker is their time.

Second catch was a nice cuttlefish. This is also the only catch I photographed2.

Here are some info about the equipement and bait, and of course, the picture.

In his element

One photo from Saturday’s sea bass fishing. It was very windy and water was clear, too clear for sea bass. We caught nothing. We didn’t even see a fish. But it was nice, catch or no catch.

Trout season opening

With 1. st. of March, 2012 trout season opened.

So, last friday, me and my friend went to open the season on nearby river where it is allowed to fish trout with artificial baits. The start was not very promising, water was low, and trout were somehow lazy. So we got a few bites but most of them ended with fish falling off before we could reel it in. Usually we have many bites and better hook ratio.

Anyway, the day ended totally diferent from what we expected it would end. I caught this beautiful spawn coloured male californian trout you can see on the first picture. And my friend caught that hucho you can see on the other picture. And what makes these catches even more extraordinary is that they were caught on UL1 tackle.

Hucho was caught on Ultra light 1.80m 3-14g2, 0.22 mono, Mepps #2. And my trout was caught on Shimano Alivio 1.65m 1-11g, 25lb braid3 and #2 Mepps.
